Went crabbing with some friends last few weeks at Grange Beach jetty. We used frozen pilchard (sardine) combined with chicken carcass as bait. It was a full moon night, where the lights on the jetty were all turned off and the only source of light that we had was only from the moon. A lot of baby crabs were trapped in the net which need to be released to the sea again as they did not meet the requirement of 10cm minimum length.

Look at the baby crabs, how cute! Maybe in real human life, they were like a bunch of kiddie in kindergarten, playing hide and seek, running happily here and there but suddenly got trapped in the net. Poor little baby! So, those baby crabs had safely continue having their own sweet times in the sea after being released from the net.

Preparing the bait before the net is released to the sea. We used a total of 4 net that night, 1 with shrimp paste (belacan) which bring us no luck at all. Maybe local aussie crab didn't like the smell and taste of belacan, eh?

Baby Gummy Shark!! This fella keep on trapping from one net to another, it was too small, not even 1 meter, did not meet the minimum length required, and need to be released to the sea again.

Well it was a great night for us, not until some local dudes went fishing and encountered with a 3ft shark. We waited for a while and continue crabbing, but finally called it a night when the guy next to us 'fighting' for his fishing rod with a 9ft shark! It was entirely our fault, and some others who stubbornly use the strictly restricted bait;the chicken carcass. The worst thing is if you get caught, and issued a summon by the Sea/Jetty Inspector, you have to pay a large amount of money which obviously worth zillion times more than the total of crabs you manage to get.

Some of the hasil tangkapan, after almost 4 hours spent on the jetty. 8 crabs in total, so masak lemak cili api it is! It was super fun and exciting with the great company that night, something that I would tremendously miss when I left Adelaide for good, one day.
